A Clinical Study on the Chronic Cervical Lymphadenitis

Abstract
The clinical review and analysis were made on 202 cases on chronic cervical lymphadenitis from January 1, 1974 to December 31, 1975 at Surgical Department of Korea University Hospital.
Following results were observed;
1) In this series, females predominated over males by 1.5: 1. The highest age incidence was in female from 21~30 years old with about 33.3%.
2). Most patient, (48%) visited our clinic in the time interval between onset and first ex-amination from lit day to 1-month.
3) General symptoms including mild pain, mild fever, fatigue, cough and anorexia were present, only in 75 cases (36%).
4) For local findings, solitary mass was present in only 36%, multiple masses were present in 64%.
5) Location of the lymphadenopathy; 55% of the cases were foundt on upper, one third of the neck. (Unilateral was present in 78% and bilateral was only in 22%).
6) Of 110 cases in which sedimentation rate, was performed ESR was, elevated in 90 cases; (81.8%)
7) Of 113 cases in which chest X-ray was checked, only 22 cases showed active pulmonary tuberculosis, 91 cases were normal.
8) Of 182 cases which were treated, only antituberculosis treatment were done in 139 cases (76.4%), 31 cases (16. 6%) were treated with incision and drainage and fistulectomy and 12 cases with extirpation.
9) Of 43 cases in which extirpation, and incision and drainage and fistulectomy were perfor-med, only 7 cases were recurred
